Need help identifing a motor

Postby Bruceter » Sat Sep 18, 2010 8:47 am

I just aquired a small gas engine that the cylinder is horizontal with a Wico mag on the top laying on it`s side .
It has a bit of decal left on the cast aluminum flywheel cover that I think says powerbolt .
The only other markings on the engine is a serial number stamped in it # A3370

I have been told it came off a Snapper walkbehind industrial rotary mower from in the 50`s
Another person told me that it`s a Clark engine .
If someone

I'll guess it's a Gladden.

Thanks Larry
I am a sucker for the odd ball stuff and when I saw this motor at the Blyth Steam show last week it had to come home with me .
I have been building engines for the last 50 years and never came across one of these ,
Would you know were I could find some information on them ?

Thanks for the help

Hang on a sec ! I only guessed it was a Gladden Products Corp. engine. Now that I've found a few pictures of that rare engine I see what you have is different. So, I'm afraid you've stumped me on this one. If you're curious about the Gladden then here are links to photos from another web site.

Get the info off the Wico mag. Sometimes my book will tell me who the mag was made for.

The Wico mag that is on this motor is a Model X , Spec # XH2081B , Serial #439160
I was told that this mag will have different pins for the impulse because the mag is laying on it`s side
